 Polish Language and Culture

Historically, South Ruislip has had strong links with Poland. Our Polish Community here devloped during the 1940s and 50s when many Polish people resettled after World War II. KS1 learned a lot about Poland - famous places, its flag and some words in Polish.

Year 1 made a trip to the Polish Air Force Memorial and Peace garden where they sang 'The Strangest Dream'.

Mrs Davenport made a traditional Polish Makowiec for us which was delicious!

Year 1 also challenged themselves with a traditional Polish paper cutting activity - look how brilliantly they did.

Year 2 looked at a Polish Christmas - look at the beautiful wreaths they made. Read the presentation to find out for yourself how Christmas is celebrated in Poland.

Mr Maryniak taught the school and choir a beautiful Polish Christmas carol which we sang in Polish at St Gregory's Church during our carol service.

We were also fortunate enough to be visited by these amazing Polish Folk Dancers.
